It is with regret that we notify members that as
of the 2nd January 2010, fishing will no longer be allowed at any of the
Moor Farm Lakes, we have been advised by the landowner, and contrary to the
rumour mill, that no angling in anyway shape or form by any club or private
syndicate will take place at the venue, the decision to close the venue was
taken as a purely commercial decision and that the closure in no way
reflects on the Society or it's members. We
would at this juncture like to thank the landowner and his family for the
excellent relationship and fishing we have enjoyed for a number a years and
to offer them our best wishes for the future. |

Following a bailiff check at Goose
Green on Saturday 27th June, a number of members were found fishing without
their membership books, could members please ensure they have their
memberships with them at all times whilst on our waters, as failure to
produce your membership when asked to by a bailiff, could mean you will be
asked to leave. |

Members will no doubt be delighted to hear that the
horrible metal shed at Goose Green has today gone to the great scrap heap in
the sky, the toilet has been moved to a new purpose built wooden shed that
is located behind the container, thanks go out to Barry Ginnaw, Dudley
Chandler, Mick Booth & Bob Pratt for cleaning and moving the toilet from
it's previous location, further thanks go to Paul & Gail Holden for
installing the concrete base and ramp in front of the toilet, no mean task
if you saw the amount of concrete that had to be mixed and laid by hand.

Please leave the toilet in the state that you would
wish to find it, i.e.; Clean & Tidy, please note the society will not
be providing toilet rolls, as a footnote, when you have done what you need
to do, please use only enough chippings to cover the "offending article", as
too much wood chip will stop the toilet from working properly.
An on lighter note, the concrete base that housed the
metal shed, once cleaned, was put into immediate use by Ray Clark as an
impromptu patio this afternoon, complete with armchair, sun umbrella, table
and barbecue, the only thing that was missing was the cold beers.
Eventually the base will be broken up and used as part
of the car park renovations which will hopefully commence later this year. |

11 April 2009 |
|
When parking your car at Goose Green please be
considerate towards other members and park in a way as to not block the
paths to the lakes as was witnessed on the 9th April, we have a number of
disabled members, some of whom are in wheel chairs and they require
unrestricted access to the paths, the way this particular car was parked on
Thursday would have made it difficult for an abled bodied member to pass,
let alone a member in a wheel chair, is walking an extra 10 yards really
that much of a hardship?. |

After 5 years in
charge it was with sadness that the Juniors said farewell to Paul Hazeldine.
As an appreciation of his hard work and dedication, Tom Brunning, Junior
team captain, presented Paul with a tankard to remember the junior team.
At the recent AGM
junior team members were presented with their prizes for the last season.
Will Steer was top points scorer for Pulborough juniors in the winter
league, brother Josh, won the Pulborough junior open and Chris Ives won the
most improved angler.
Congratulations to
all three and good luck for the forthcoming season. |

A net dip has been installed at Moor Farm
fishery, ALL anglers are required to dip their nets BEFORE starting to fish,
the dip has been installed at the entrance to the fishery by the car park,
you have to walk past the dip to get to the lakes, so there is no excuse not
to dip your nets prior to fishing. |

| Our AGM
took place on Friday 27th February at Ashington Community Centre. The AGM
voted for a small increase in membership fees to cover the work on the car
park at Goose Green later in the 2009 season, two members, Peter Van Leeuwen
& Simon Parker (Jnr) were awarded honorary one year memberships in thanks
for their hard work and service to the Society at Goose Green, also at the
AGM we elected a new Treasurer to take over from Bob Pratt who has been
fulfilling the role of Chairman & Treasurer for the past two years, we would
like to welcome Andy Brunning to his new position in the Society and to
thank Bob Pratt for his work as Treasurer over the past eleven years. |

We have today installed
a small number of ropes with hanging reflectors over the water at
Goose Green, these ropes have been positioned in such a way and height
that they will not impede your fishing, but they
will impede the landing and take off runs of the Cormorants, thanks go to
the small band of members who installed them, hopefully, this latest measure
will help to deter the Black Death from visiting our lakes. We are going to
monitor the lakes each day to see if this latest measure has the desired
effect on the Cormorants. |
