2011 Teach In

Photos of this years event    Back to Annual Teach - In

This years Teach In was held at our Goose Green fishery on the 16th July and was fished over five of the six lakes and ponds at the Society owned water.

The ‘Teach In’ is run on a one tutor to one pupil basis and was attended by 12 novice anglers in the morning and 10 in the afternoon session, this event allows our pupils to have some of the best tuition available in the South-East of England thanks to the dedicated support of  the Pulborough AS match teams and pleasure anglers who freely volunteer their time to help the young and very often, first time anglers.

The kitchen & BBQ were set up under cover of the  marquee that the Society purchased for it's events, this purchase has been worth it's weight in gold and again was an invaluable piece of kit as the day proved to be a very wet affair with, what at times seemed to be a constant heavy rain, thankfully though, as the day progressed the weather did improve and during the latter stages of the day, the sun did make an appearance for us,  however, despite the rain, all of our pupils from a local Scout & Cub group caught fish,  from tiny Gudgeon to large Carp and everything in between, the wet weather certainly did little to dampen their enthusiasm as the laughter and smiles on their faces attested.

As always we would like to express our deep appreciation and gratitude to those members who make this event possible, in particular,  to Sandy Emery, Karen Ginnaw & Simon Parker for keeping the troops fed and watered with an unending supply of bacon butties, burgers and hot dogs, further thanks go towards our neighbours at the fishery, particularly to Tim for the use of his water supply and to Paul & Sue Goldring ( www.paulgoldring.co.uk ) for the use of their land for additional car parking, thanks also go to our recently elected Chairman, Steve Moulding for the unenviable task of organising the entire event, to Mark Emery & Ryan Giles for preparing the fishery on the Friday before the event as well as building the Gazebo, amongst the many other tasks that needed completing to make sure the Teach In ran as smoothly as possible, we also extend our thanks to the Environment Agency & Arun Angling for their continued support and last but not least, to those members who offer their free time to teach and to make the event the success it is.
