Our Stillwater Fisheries

   Goose Green, Ashington

Closed Season: Open all year.

Six of the Society's nine lakes are situated at our Goose Green complex near Ashington, West Sussex.

These lakes, which offer in excess of 75 pegs, are owned by the Society and vary in size and depth and offer superb pleasure and match fishing in an open woodland environment that contains many different species of birds, from Blue, Great & Long Tailed Tits, Tree Creepers and Nightingales to Buzzards soaring overhead.

We have undertaken extensive renovation work at Goose Green in recent years and all bar two of the lakes have now been enlarged and deepened, as part of the works program undertaken, the areas surrounding the lakes have been landscaped and  replanted with hundreds of native tree species, the pathways around the lakes have also been improved, there are no steps at this fishery and access to the lakes is via landscaped slopes, which were designed with considerable input from our less able bodied members.

The car park is adjacent to five of the six lakes and offers ease of access, especially for our disabled members.

Heron Lake contains Carp of all sizes from ounces to good sized doubles, Bream, Tench, Perch, Rudd, Roach, Eels, Skimmers, Crucians and Gudgeon are also stocked, the lake is probably the most popular with our anglers, as it caters for many different disciplines from pleasure and match tactics to specialised methods used by specimen hunters, pleasure catches in excess of 70lb are common in the warmer months.

Canada Lake holds a large head of Carp, Hybrids, Bream, Skimmers, Roach, Rudd, Perch, Eels, Crucians & Tench.

Kingfisher Lake has been stocked predominantly with Bream, Skimmers, Crucians, Hybrids, Eels, Tench, Gudgeon, Perch, Roach & Rudd, it also holds a small head of Carp to low doubles.

New Pond is a small pond holding just four pegs, but don't let the relatively small size of this pond put you off, as it contains Crucians, Tench, Skimmers, Perch, Carp, Roach & Rudd. (This pond is currently undergoing renovation planning with work due to start Autumn 2017).

Deep Lake which has been enlarged considerably from it's previous size, contains Roach, Rudd, Perch, Gudgeon, Crucian Carp, Tench, Perch, Chub, Skimmers, Eels and Carp.

Tench Pond, as it's name suggests has been stocked with Tench, there is also a good head of true Crucian Carp in this pond, in addition good stocks of Roach, Rudd, Skimmers & Bream are present in this Lake.

The Society maintains an active stocking policy for Goose Green and regularly invests in it's property with fresh fish stocks in order to maintain the quality of fishing. We have also installed a wildlife pond along side the car park , this small pond does not contain any fish and is deliberately left wild to encourage aquatic wildlife.

Boilies are banned by request of our membership at Goose Green and indeed all of our stillwater fisheries.

Brinsbury College, Pulborough *** New water for 2017 ***

Closed Season: 15th March to 15th June inclusive

A small, approx half acre pond with depths ranging between 3-4 ft with reed lined banks, fish holding weed beds and lots of bank side cover, the pond although small offers our members a slightly more traditional, dare we say Mr Crabtree, type of environment.

The pond is stocked with mixed species including Carp, Bream, Tench, Roach & Rudd and responds well to float fished baits such as maggot & bread.

This pond is located within the Brinsbury College Campus and as such a number of fishery specific rules apply, these can be found in your membership book, please make sure you are conversant with them before fishing. This fishery is closed during the statutory close season.

   Duncans Pond, Pulborough

Closed Season: Open all year.

Duncan's Pond is a small, fairly shallow pond with lots of fish holding cover.

This fishery produces big Roach, Rudd, Gudgeon and Perch together with the occasional Tench and Carp.

Don't be put off by the relatively small size of this pond, the fishing here is superb and it takes many an angler back to their angling roots, with some of our members joining the Society purely to fish this gem of a water.

This pond being fairly shallow is ideal for junior members and those with mobility problems as the pond is located in close proximity to parking and local amenities.

This water is fishable on a single water membership - details.
