All P.A.S Angling Coaches have been trained in all aspects of angling training, Pulborough Angling Society has a Child Protection Policy in force.

The Concept:

Pulborough Angling Society has a continuing policy of bringing into angling Junior, young adults and more elderly anglers into the sport that have no previous experience of the sport.  The concept of the three-session courses is to take the would be angler from a point where they have no knowledge into a realm whereby they are proficient on tackle set-up, understanding fish and their habits and habitat, safety by the waters edge and environmental issues that allow them to both understand our natural environment, but have grass roots ideas on how it should be persevered and maintained for future generations of anglers and wildlife!

Level 1:  Introductory Course:  This session is completely free of charge and there is no obligation on completing the course to join Pulborough Angling Society.  Our vastly experienced Junior Training Team will take you through the whip principle of angling.  Explain tackle set-up and requirements – baits – fish handling – and some environmental training and you will explore some safety issues.

Level 2: Basic Training:  This session is also completely free from charge.  Having dealt with the whip in part 1 students will now be shown the principles of waggler fishing and or feeder fishing (dependant of pupils ability).  The course is structured to your needs so therefore those able to advance further on this session may do so, conversely those who feel they would like to further cement those items already covered may do so.  There is no pressure put on pupils as we want you to feel confident that you are happy with a given style of fishing before moving onFurther training will be given on the environment, safety on the bank, noise pollution and other forms of pollution.

Level 3:  Intermediate Level:  This is a chargeable session at a fee of £5 per student.  The student is also requested to supply the bait they require for the session.  This session will hone the skills already learnt, all aspects of the training so far and should ensure that you are ready and able to take to the banks in safety, be able to apply your tackle to your needs, be aware of the environment around you both above and under the waters surface. On passing through this stage you will be able to catch fish on your own and pick up further advice from magazines and books and of course local anglers.

Advanced/Specialist:  Following the success of the Pulborough Angling Society Junior Training Team many anglers have asked for further training on specialist aspects of angling; Carp – Pike - Fly Fishing – River and Brook fishing – Long Trotting - Match Angling.  This can be arranged but will be chargeable.  Please contact your tutor for further details.
